The Iglesia Ni Cristo will celebrate its 101 years in existence at the sprawling Ciudad de Victoria, Bocaue, Bulacan site of the Philippine Arena on July 27, 2015.



In previous years, PNoy declared July 27 as special non-working holiday, particularly last year being the 100th anniversary (centennial) but it was a Sunday.
This year, July 27, 2015 falls on a Monday and it may be declared non-working holiday

As of now, Malacanang declared July 27 as a WORKING holiday though and this may not change as it nears :P

Tips:
1. get there early to reserve the best view in front of the crowd and also take pictures of the fireworks as if coming from the Manila Bay and not from the fireworks barges.
2. Park nearest the street or outside of MOA since it takes an awful lot of time to get out after the event finishes (reason why Tutubi never went back there)
3. How to take Fireworks pictures: Use a sturdy tripod and camera remote control and lots of patience. set camera to 5 or 10 seconds depending on your style, ISO 100 and aperture to around 5.6 but best to find the best settings beforehand on trial shots
to get what you prefer to be seen or get.
4. to avoid huge crowds, you can also book for a romantic dinner at a restaurant near SM MOA where you can view the fireworks display synchronized with music.

Alternatively, from LRT Taft Avenue Pedro Gil station, you can board jeepnesy going to Guadalupe (Ilalim), drop off at the corner of Makati Avenue and J.P.Rizal then transfer to the Ayala-bound jeepneys.

The Zapote - Ayala jeepneys at the corner of Zapote and J.P. Rizal also pass by the place but you need to do some walking back on Makati Avenue corner Kalayaan where A.Venue Mall is just about 50 meters away.

Directions to A.Venue

From eastbound Ayala Avenue or Buendia, turn left on Makati Avenue, drive past Kalayaan then turn right to enter A.venue Mall's parking lot.

From Manadaluyong, it's best to pass Makati Mandaluyong Bridge where the mall is less than a kilometer away.

From EDSA, Quezon City, take EDSA going to Makati, turn right to the access road after passing Gaudalupe bridge, left on J.P. Rizal St,. then left on Makati Avenue where A-Venue Mall is located.

As we celebrate Earth Day on April 22, the Center for Environmental Awareness and Education (CEAE) will be screening a film that showcases one of the world's biodiversity hotspots—the Philippines.

Endangered Tales of the Philippines shows why this archipelago is one of the most biologically rich places on the planet. This 58-minute film features unique footage from over 15 expeditions and eye-opening interviews with over 30 biologists, scientists, and conservationists—all of whom highlight the urgent need for conservation efforts.

For one day only, moviegoers will be able to watch a riveting showcase of mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians, most of which are endemic—or those found only in the Philippines. The film will be screened at SM Megamall Cinema 8 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The CEAE produced this comprehensive documentary on the country's extraordinary wildlife in an effort to get people excited about the diversity of species in their own country.

Endangered Tales of the Philippines celebrates the beauty of the Philippines and contrasts this with the fragile state of the environment. Over ten months of unique footage on Philippine wildlife has been woven into a powerful documentary on the beauty and fragility of the country's natural heritage.

Founded in 1999, the CEAE is a leader in environmental education and environmental awareness initiatives in the Philippines. The organization has spearheaded a variety of projects such as Moonrise Film Festival, the first environmental film festival in the Philippines. CEAE constantly produces and distributes new content such as the award-winning documentary Children of the Mountains, which won the Mark Hasslem Planet in Focus award.

I have a really good view with my tripod perched on top of a huge rock as you can see from the picture before a cameraman, might be from a tv network blocked my view without even saying sorry or excuse me. Instead of thinking something nasty, I just included him in my composition that turned our quite well.



My first time actually to take fireworks pictures where I got washed out pictures of the first ones I took but I found out my optimum settings for use that night:

that's not all, the biggest hurray for me was my DIY remote control for my 300D with details in my other blog here.

We had our company Christmas party at the Peninsula with a theme of Broadway musical and musical movies.

Since I was the one in-charge of food, I had the chance to inspect the kitchen and saw two young men preparing this sculpture in ice. (how come they always say Paetenians have intrinsic talent in carving and yet I don't have the hands to create such works of art?)



knowing too well the two might be from my hometown, and I was right. :)

party was enlivened by Janine Desiderio who specializes in musicals aside from being a head-turner that many of our company executives took turns in stealing kisses from the voluptuous babe on stage



the bell star dancers provided backup to Janine with various dance rendition including the opening number



party was also participated in by various committees performing numbers from Grease, Miss Saigon, Les Miserables and the ludicrous Sister Act.

Never mind the raffles since I always don't get called even for the minor prizes :(

Halloween, not actually a Christian event yet a celebration gaining popularity in the Philippines. The event used to be only celebrated in the enclaves of the rish in Makati and other gated communities where children, dressed in "scary" halloween costumes, make the rounds from house to house in the traditional trick or treat

Now, Halloween costumes and decorations dominate malls and other business establishments. Costumes such as pumpkins and ghosts and witches can be bought in supermarkets in October, preceding the national holiday of All Saints Day and All Souls Day, on which Halloween is marked.

On All Saints Day, people flock to cemeteries to remember their departed loved ones, something that used to reserved on All Souls Day. Metro Manila will look like a desert town with people leaving for their home provinces only ti rush back to the city on or after All Souls Day.
