Driving Directions to Boracay via Roro (Strong Republic National Highway):

If you want to bring your own vehicle to Boracay, you need to get to Port of Batangas (Pier), board the Ro-ro vessel (Montenegro Shipping Lines or Starlite Ferries) to the Port of Calapan (Oriental Mindoro), drive again up to Roxas (Oriental Mindoro) then board the ferry to Caticlan (you need to park your car in Caticlan as cars are not allowed on Boracay Island)

Travel time estimates:
Manila to Batangas port: 3 hours (land travel)
RORO to Calapan Mindoro: 3 hours (sea travel)
Calapan to Port Roxas: 3 hour land travel
RORO to Caticlan port: 4 hours (sea travel)

Cash-strapped and trapped in Puerto Galera? As of now, a few days before Holy Week, there's no ATM within walking distance of White Beach, the popular beach party place of locals while there are two ATMs on Sabang Beach, where the girlie bars, foreigners abound.

To solve your problem, In Poblacion Puerto galera, on Muelle St, the Allied Savings Bank ATM machine near Puerto Galera Municipal hall (munisipyo) walking distance from Muelle Pier accepts BancNet, Megalink, Expressnet, Visa Credit Card (cash advance), Plus and China Union Pay (CUP, for Hong Kong and China-issued ATM debit cards). Click here for a vicinity map of the ATM. To get to the ATM from White Beach, you have to walk to the main road then ride a tricycle or jeep to Puerto Galera town center near the municipal hall.

Encash ATM at the Rural bank of Puerto Galera (RBPG) office and at the Atlantis Dive Resort and Hotel on Sabang Beach accepts BancNet, Megalink, Expressnet ATM cards. Encash ATMs charge an additional convenience fee (in the range of PhP20.00 up) per transaction on top of the regular PhP10-PhP12/transaction but that's acceptable as it's still cheaper than to commute to the other ATMs; that's why it's called convenience fee.

Upcoming: Maxbank on Sabang Beach will soon have an ATM that accepts BancNet, Megalink, Expressnet, Plus, Visa Credit Card (cash advance), and China Union Pay (CUP, for Hong Kong and China-issued ATM debit cards). After wakeboarding at Lago de Oro summer outing, a group of Tutubi's officemates decided on going to nearby Puerto Galera beaches. Since Tutubi loves spur-of-the-moment travels, the unplanned kind, he tagged along.

Boarding a bus to Batangas Pier and a banca (boat) to Puerto Galera to take them to White Beach. The boat ride is a short one less than an hour.

The group arrived there shortly before sunset but since the trip is unplanned, they needed to find a room to stay for the night. It's a peak season of summer so as expected, no rooms were available at the various resorts lined up on the popular beach front. They then looked for contacts and rooms in houses nearby and found one where the 8 of them can sleep for just P100 per person, not bad indeed since they're not finicky, just wanted a place to rest their weary bodies later.

Where to Eat in Puerto Galera:

many bars and restaurants dot the area so dining and drinking is not hard.

Where to Stay in Puerto Galera (Resorts and Hotels):

Many hotels and resorts offer rooms and accommodations on the beach fronts, if your trip is unplanned or can't book your own rooms, you can look around for people offering rooms in their houses for cheap accommodations called homestay.

Cheapest ones, during peak periods like Holy Week, are tents where you only need a campsite like HSL and access to toilets.

What to do in Puerto Galera:

Snorkeling, shopping for souvenirs, visit Tamaraw falls nearby, SCUBA Diving, Banana boat and other water sports and activities

ATM Banking:

No ATMs on White Beach so bring plenty of cash. On Sabang Beach, there's Rural Bank of Puerto Galera

How to get to Puerto Galera:

Commute to Puerto Galera: Board a bus of Alps (Kamias, EDSA) Batangas Express (Kamias, EDSA) or Tritran (Kamias, EDSA or Taft Ave near corner Buendia/Gil Puyat) bus bound for Batangas Pier. At Batangas Pier, board ferries or boats to Puerto Galera. Total travel time is around 4 hours.

Driving Directions by private car, there's also secure parking at Batangas Pier (call them for parking rates) or you may take the Ro-Ro (Roll On Roll Off) facilities going to Mindoro.

For Puerto Galera via RORO, drive to Batangas Pier Gate 2, pay for the fee P1400 then 160-200/passenger with 1 free going to Balatero. RORO Trip schedule is from 10am and 3pm. Roro to Calapan costs the same but open 24 hours.


For those tourist in Manila, you can also board Sikat Bus to Puerto Galera with daily trips at 8am in front of City State Hotel on Mabini St Ermita, Manila. This way you just board the bus to take you directly either to White beach or Sabang Beach. Fare is PhP500 with travel time of 3 hours.
