Halal Restaurants in Manila, Philippines

If you're looking for restaurants serving authentic halal food in Manila (Metro Manila that is), Makati has lots of them hidden in the cosmopolitan city's nooks and crannies as well as in tourist centers of Malate and Ermita in Manila and Islamic neighborhood of Quiapo, also in Manila, and Greehills Shopping Center in San Juan where many Muslim traders sell their wares like cheap pearls and jeweleries.

Halal, Arabic word for "permissible," is the term used to describe food permitted to be eaten by Muslims, opposed to haram, meaning not permitted or bawal in Filipino. It involves a ban on certain animal meat particularly pork, blood and others. Animals should also be butchered by a Muslim who utter the name of Allah.

Halal Certification Authority is still unestablished in the Philippines but there are certain bodies doing this is Muslim Mindanao verifying halal authenticity of the food served in some establishments.

Hi for the reader who is looking to buy halal chicken meat-- you can get these from Assad MiniMArt on UN Avenue in Manila, they sell Chicken and Goat Meat, or from BIJAN Specialty Store in the Lifetsyle Mall, near Chow King in Green Hills.
They have chicken, beef, lamb all halal Alhamdulillah

KFC in the Philippines are not halal vertified by a recognized certifying body in the Philippines. Chicken and other food that they wll served were not halal certified. Some ingredients were also manufactured in different manufacturing plant (toll packer), same line may have been used for non-halal materials (cross contamination).

Hi there, the mosque in greenhills which is housed in a shopping mall has KFC next to it. After friday prayers, I saw alot of muslims eat there. I asked some of the muslims eating there and they say its halal ( I think its this outlet only so far). Inside the mosque vicinity there is a small cafe that sells halal food filipino style. I tried it and it was good. Greenhills shopping centre has alot of muslim vendors and shops and I have seen alot of migration of muslims to that area ever since the mosque was allowed to be built within the mall and so I think more and more halal restaurants will be open there. Try it out.

Hi, I have been staying in Philippines (Metro Manila) for over 1 year.

The concept of local muslim (filipino) of halal is differ from what you may have been practising.

As long there's no pork, means its halal.

Sometimes, even the food packaging having a halal logo, its not halal. Example some cookies/biscuits, by same company - some are halal, some are not.

Hard to say, the best is you cook yourself or dine at well known establishment and bear the high cost.

A simple dinner for 2 simply cost PHP2,000 in Kashmir

I'm happy for this thread and glad that there's a halal estaurant in my place..I will take down all these notes cause me and my family are going to Philippines for a 3 wk vacation..The first time my Egyptian husband came to Philippines, (I was newly converted at that time so i am ignorant of the "halal" word and only "just no pork" is fine)we had a hard time looking for a halal restaurant exactly in Angeles City..so he just bought a native chicken which is 3 times the original price (if the vendors see you as a foreigner, they will surely rocket the price)and kill it by himself in Halal way.I remember though that we ate in Kenny Rogers Roasters in Robinsons Place Manila, after he saw one Muslim sister customer.

Hi, I'm a Muslim student, currently studying Tagalog and staying in Matalino Street, Teacher's Village East, Diliman, Quezon City. Just out of curiousity, is the KFC restaurant in the area certified Halal? Some Muslims living in the area told me the KFC restaurant there is Halal......but I'm not too sure of its halaness......Thank you
