If you have one million pesos in cash plus another three thousand pesos monthly excess money to burn, what would you do? Would you sign up for an exclusive membership at a club like the sprawling Club Punta Fuego in Nasugbu, Batangas?
Tutubi got a taste of the luxurious life of the rich for two days, without spending a single peso, courtesy of his company who held 2009 planning conference at the exclusive resort club.
This would be mostly pictures and a few comments/feedback as most information can be seen on Club Punta Fuego's official website.

The casitas' shower room and toilet has the feel of forest with a garden and glass but obstructed from the outside world with a high concrete wall...a concept similar to the bathroom of Kinabuhayan Cafe in Dolores, Quezon
Club Punta Fuego has two infinity pools, one double infinity pool near the club house and another at lower beach. Infinity pools are designed so that there is an illusion of swimming in the vast ocean.

Other facilities inside the club are tennis courts, conference rooms, several restaurants and some stretches of white sand beaches but not really good for swimming due to being rocky. If you're looking for nice white sand beach for swimming and beach bumming, you can go to Terrazas de Punta Fuego resort that share the same beach front as Munting Buhangin Beach resort.
Punta Fuego, being an exclusive enclave, requires endorsement by a member to be able to use the facilities. There's no such thing as a cheap Punta Fuego vacation package unless somebody other than yourself paid for it. Tutubi was informed his company spent about P5k for every participant in the session for his one night only stay at the pricey place. Food at the club is pricey, similarly priced like most high-end hotels in Manila though there's nothing really worth raving for.
How to get to Punta Fuego, Nasugbu, Batangas:
Commuting to Punta Fuego is not easy as there're no public transportation available there. The nearest one can get there is via buses to Nasugbu, Batangas.
Driving directions to Punta Fuego: From SLEX, take Sta. Rosa exit all the way to Tagaytay and turn right after Tagaytay Public Market (and Tagaytay Econo Inn). Follow the highway, passing by Alfonso (cavite) and until you reach kilometer marker 93, the so called Likuan, where you turn right (left turn leads to Balayan town). You will pass by Nasugbu town proper, Cawayan Cove, Tali Beach, Munting Buhangin and Terrazas de Punta Fuego, up to about 6 kilometers of winding road, called Ternate-Nasugbu road until you see the sign leading to Club Punta Fuego. You will also see signs going to Hamilo Coast.

Review: Mount Malarayat Golf Course in Lipa City, Batangas

Always stressed out at work, Tutubi has a part of his job that takes him to seminars outside of the big city four times a year. The latest was a trip to the peaceful surroundings of Mt. Malarayat Golf and Country Club.
Left Makati at around noon and took a late lunch at Rose and Grace Restaurant in Santo Tomas before going back to enter the Startoll on the way to Lipa City, Tutubi was again excited by his upcoming change in environment beginning with the gates of the playground of the rich and famous in Batangas.

cute ducks queue up going to the nearby lagoon. an even better photo opportunity was missed by Tutubi earlier when the same "mighty ducks" swam on the lagoon forming a "flying V" formation
Tutubi was about to explore the golf course and surrounding areas when a distress call of one of his officemates made him go to SM Lipa instead to withdraw money transferred to his account at an ATM. remember, you can only withdraw a maximum of P20k per day so he volunteered his account for his officemate to get his money much more than the maximum daily ATM withdrawal limit of his bank.

Tutubi's ride back home to Manila
Don't take his word for it. Tutubi rode a van back to Manila but passed by Mt. Carmel church, ate at Hapag Pinoy restaurant, Babe's buko pie for pasalubong, Panaderia Pantoja in Tanauan, and late lunch at Rose and Grace in Sto. Tomas for another round of steaming hot bulalo and crispy tawilis.

Food was great and tasty at the clubhouse but took too long to be served.
Front desk and other staff were friendly and accommodating.
Being not a hotel, they find it hard to serve large groups of people like the seminar Tutubi attended.
Tutubi found out he also left his Nikon 18-200 VR lens hood in his room when he's already in Makati. When he sent an email to the front desk people, he received a call from them and informed him to fetch his lens hood, costs about P700 for a single piece of black plastic shaped like a flower to prevent lens flares, the following Saturday with the help of his officemate who lives in Tanauan.

How to Commute from Manila: Board any bus bound for Batangas City via Tanauan (Not via Calabarzon) in Pasay City (Taft Avenue near corner Gil Puyat Ave (LRT Buendia station) then drop off when you see Fiesta World Mall (Fiesta Mall). Ride a tricycle or a jeepney with Dagatan signboard to take you to the golf club.
Driving directions to Lipa, Batangas: from Makati, head towards SLEX and exit at Silangan (Batangas Lucena). Drive directly ahead passing by Shell, Turbina and Carmelray until you reach Star Tollway (StarToll). Enter Star Toll by turning right and exit at Bulihan (access to Malvar town) turn left after the toll gate, and drive to the end of the road where you turn right (this is now old highway) that leads to a road where you see Fiesta Mall. Turn left at the road with Fiesta Mall until you see the prominent sign of Mount Malarayat. Note: should you happen to miss Bulihan exit at Star Toll and instead took Tambo (Lipa) you need to go back to get to Malarayat where you also pass by Robinsons and SM City Lipa.

Tee Off at Splendido Taal Golf Course, Tagaytay

A rare chance to be part of a corporate golf tournament, privilege to travel for free and opportunity to take picture of the spanking Splendido Taal Residential, Golf, and Country Club in Alfonso, Cavite in the vicinity of Tagaytay City found itself in Tutubi even for a short notice of the engagement of just two days.
Packing his bag and getting ready with his camera, Tutubi traveled on a Friday evening to Tagaytay City, checking in at the swanky Taal Vista Hotel for a couple of hours sleep before waking up early, much too early actually for a weary corporate slave, for the golf tournament that usually begins at daybreak when the heat of the sun is still bearable.
With the tee off starting after a hearty breakfast, Tutubi took pictures of the vast estate and playground of the rich and famous that is Splendido Taal Golf Course.
Splendido Taal Golf Course, an 18-hole Par 72 signature championship golf course by Greg Norman, comes with a golf clubhouse, country clubhouse and residential community for those who got money to burn. Future Developments in the pipeline include a town center, hotel and resort, townhouses, condotels.

Didn't Tutubi tell you that the food at Splendido Taal are also splendid particularly their paella and beef salpicao the the Golf Clubhouse?
The only problem with Splendido Taal was the absence of a system of fast counting/ tallying of scores so much like the Comelec. You know what that is.
How to get to Splendido Taal, Alfonso, Cavite:
The entrance to Splendido Taal is about 13 kilometers from the Tagaytay city rotunda (roundabout) and near the Tagaytay City-Alfonso boundary (remember Sonya's Garden?). If you want to take a peek, suggest you inform the guard that you're making an inquiry about the place for possible wedding or other events venue.

History of Golf in the Philippines and Golf Trivia
Irish engineers building the Panay railroad introduced the game in the country.
Santa Barbara Golf Course, established in 1908, in Iloilo was the first golf club in the Philippines (not the golf course around Intramuros).
According to pop historian Ambeth Ocampo, "Wack-Wack Golf and Country Club was founded by William Shaw because his wife and 'mestizo' child were not welcome in the Manila Golf Club then in Caloocan" back in those days when Filipinos were separated from the Americans due to segregation (and you thought the Americans treated Filipinos fairly, huh?)
Since then the Philippines became a golfing paradise and mecca!

Irish engineers building the Panay railroad introduced the game in the country.
Santa Barbara Golf Course, established in 1908, in Iloilo was the first golf club in the Philippines (not the golf course around Intramuros).
According to pop historian Ambeth Ocampo, "Wack-Wack Golf and Country Club was founded by William Shaw because his wife and 'mestizo' child were not welcome in the Manila Golf Club then in Caloocan" back in those days when Filipinos were separated from the Americans due to segregation (and you thought the Americans treated Filipinos fairly, huh?)
Since then the Philippines became a golfing paradise and mecca!

How to get to Tagaytay Highlands:
Commute: there are buses going to going to Alfonso or any bus going to tagaytay. Reuest the conductor to drop you off at Olivarez then take a jeepney going to Peoples Park where you can see the entrance of the place.
Driving Directions to Tagaytay Highlands: from Manila, head off to SLEX and exit at Sta. Rosa exit and drive all the way to the Tagaytay Ridge road where you turn left. Look for signage on the road for directions of you may refer to map.
