How to get to Tagaytay:
The Ninoy Aquino Monument at Tagaytay Rotonda, the most recognizable of Tagaytay's landmarks, is surrounded by BPI, Chowking, Mang Inasal
Driving directions to Tagaytay for those with private cars, vans or taxi cabs:
Option 1: via SLEX Sta. Rosa Exit, the most popular and easiest, is a straight drive all the way to Tagaytay Public Market (and right smack into Tagaytay Econo Inn) where you turn right going to Tagaytay city proper and Nasugbu/Balayan/Lemery Batangas or left going to People's Park in the Sky. Usual travel time from Makati CBD is just around one hour (except CBD traffic).
Option 2: via SLEX Eton Exit (recommended for weekends to avoid traffic in Nuvali, Solenad and Paseo de Sta. Rosa) turn right to Greenfield Parkway (pass by Riverbend and Pramana Residential Park), on to United Boulevard (pass FortMED and South Luzon Hospital and Medical Center, Paseo Premier Hotel) right to Laguna Boulevard then left to Sta. Rosa - Tagaytay Road to reach Tagaytay
Option 3: SLEX Greenfields Exit, an alternate route to Tagaytay that pass by Pramana, Nuvali, Eton City and Paseo de Sta. Rosa, ideal to avoid traffic buildup on Sta. Rosa-Tagaytay National Road
Option 4: SLEX Southwoods exit then Governor's Drive in Carmona going to Dasmarinas. Turn left on Maguyam Road just before the Shell Station to your left.
Option 5: via Aguinaldo Highway: Roxas Boulevard, Baclaran, Coastal Road, Bacoor, Imus, Dasmarinas via Aguinaldo Highway. Not recommended due to presence of heavy traffic made worse by SM Dasmarinas and Robinsons Palapala. At the end of Aguinaldo Highway is the Tagaytay Rotonda (roundabout) where a statue of Ninoy Aquino (see picture above)
Option 6: Another route for the adventurous to Tagaytay is via Daang Hari that passes by Molino, Bacoor, Imus, Dasmarinas and Silang. It bypasses the traffic chokepoint of Bacoor rotonda but not SM Dasma and Robinsons.
Option 7: From Sto. Tomas, Batangas via StarToll in going to Lipa City, take Sambat exit and follow the national road to Talisay then go up Ligaya Drive, the zigzag road to Tagaytay (sometimes called Bitukang Manok, not for the faint of heart and newbie drivers)
Note: If you're a foreigner, you can hire vans to get there or an airport taxi. Some taxi drivers charge a fixed rate or double the meter fare plus toll fees. Taxi rates to Tagaytay from the airport is approximately PhP3,000.00 (depends on your haggling skill)

This is a backpacking blog so backpacking Tagaytay should really mean taking public transportation :P
If you're going to Tagaytay via public transportation, request the driver to drop you off at your destination if along the way or at Tagaytay Rotonda (landmarks: Ninoy Aquino monument, BPI, Max's, 7-Eleven) where you can ride jeepneys or tricycle to your target place.
From Manila Airport to Tagaytay
From NAIA Terminal 1 or NAIA Terminal 2, walk outside the terminal from arrival gate and take the bus going to EDSA to MMDA Southwest Integrated Bus Terminal) where you need to ride the bus going to Lemery, Lian, Nasugbu, Calatagan or DLTB/Crow Transit and alight in Tagaytay (Fare is around PhP100.00)
You can also take the Airport shuttle from the airport terminals for only PhP20.00 and alight at Pasay Taft Rotonda (where you can see LRT Taft Avenue Station and LRT EDSA station). Ride the bus at the back of McDonalds

Alternatively, hire a taxi to take you directly to Tagaytay (around PhP4,000.00) or get the services of car-for-hire
From Mandaluyong to Tagaytay: Ride vans (V-Hires) bound for Lemery, Batangas via Tagaytay in front of Starmall at the corner of EDSA and Shaw Boulevard (walking distance from MRT Shaw Boulevard station). Fare is the same as those going to Batangas (derecho)
from Navotas bus terminal via Malabon, Caloocan City, Quezon City via EDSA, Jasper Jean bus plies the Navotas to Pala-pala, Dasmarinas, Cavite route and pass by EDSA. (Those buses usually park to the detriment of other drivers) in front of Highway 54, Meralco Sub-station). In Dasmarinas, transfer to jeepneys going to Mendez, Cavite that pass by Tagaytay.

From Ayala Avenue, Makati: Erjohn & Almark, Arbiel Bus Line and Ferdinand Liner serve the Tagaytay - Ayala route. They pass via Buendia from Coastal Road,right to Ayala Avenue right to EDSA then left to Roxas Boulevard, Coastal Road then Aguinaldo Highway up to Tagaytay. On the return route, it's Aguinaldo Highway, Coastal Road, right to Buendia (Gil Puyat) then Ayala. Fare is around PhP100.00
Shuttle service (vans, FX, V-Hires) going to Nasugbu, Balayan and Lemery on Zamora Street near Metropoint mall and behind Kabayan Hotel near the corner of EDSA and Taft Avenue (accessible from LRT EDSA Station or MRT Taft Avenue station (EDSA Rotonda). Current fare is PhP180.00 (regardless of where you're going since it's a derecho trip). Travel time to Tagaytay from Pasay is around one hour and fifteen minutes.
From Alabang, Muntinlupa: ride the van/fx at the terminal at the corner of SLEX and Alabang-Zapote Road, Filinvest Festival Mall, or still another at Starmall (formerly Metropolis Mall Alabang)
From Laguna to Tagaytay: In Pagsanjan Public Market, there are vans/fx/V-Hires going to Palapala in Dasmarinas Cavite. On reaching Pala-pala transport terminal (near Robinsons Dasmarinas and SM Dasma), transfer to a bus going to Tagaytay where it's less than an hour away.
Calamba to Tagaytay: ride shuttle service at the public market beside Waltermart Calamba or at the Calamba Central Terminal. Cheaper alternative, ride a jeepney going to Balibago complex in Sta. Rosa then transfer to Tagaytay-bound jeepneys.
Balibago to Tagaytay Public Market: Regular jeepneys plying the route to/from Balibago Transport terminal in Sta. Rosa Laguna to Tagaytay Public Market route.
Buses to Tagaytay: Route and Bus Fare
ALl buses to Tagaytay now stop at Uniwide Coastal Mall (MMDA Southwest Integrated Bus Terminal)
Bus Fare to Tagaytay Rotonda from Uniwide Coastal Mall (MMDA Southwest Integrated Bus Terminal): around PhP80.00. Travel time is around one hour and thirty minutes
JAM Transit has trips to Tagaytay, Balayan, Batangas, Lemery. Jam Transit terminal is at Taft Avenue corner Sen. Gil Puyat Avenue accessible from LRT Buendia station. Fare: PhP83.00
Crow Transit, Erjohn & Almark and Genesis have bus terminals at the corner Taft Ave & EDSA, behind Sogo Hotel and McDonalds, right below MRT Taft Avenue station and walking distance from LRT EDSA station. They have buses to Nasugbu/Calatagan/Balayan in Batangas or Alfonso, Cavite in regular schedules.

From Tagaytay Going Back to Manila:
You may need to ride a jeepney to Tagaytay Rotonda and Olivarez Plaza where you wait for buses to take you back to Manila. Bus fare is about PhP100.00

Crow Transit, Erjohn & Almark and Genesis have bus terminals at the corner Taft Ave & EDSA, behind Sogo Hotel and McDonalds, right below MRT Taft Avenue station and walking distance from LRT EDSA station. They have buses to Nasugbu/Calatagan/Balayan in Batangas or Alfonso, Cavite in regular schedules.
DLTB (Del Monte Land Transport Company) with bus terminal on EDSA, Malibay, Pasay City has buses every 15 minutes to Nasugbu, Balayan, or Calatagan Batangas that pass by Tagaytay. Bus Fare to Tagaytay: PhP100.00 (Baclaran to Tagaytay bus fare: PhP100.00)

Tricycles can also be hired in Tagaytay (taxis are not available) but usually charge fares much more than taking public utility jeepneys (PUJ) so be forewarned.

You may need to ride a jeepney to Tagaytay Rotonda and Olivarez Plaza where you wait for buses to take you back to Manila. Bus fare is about PhP100.00

Restaurants Serving Halal Food In Tagaytay for Muslim Travelers

Tutubi's been receiving quite a number of inquiries from Muslim visitors due to some of his posts on mosques and halal food in Manila. This time, he received inquiries for halal restaurants in Tagaytay to which he didn't have a ready answer. Research initially pointed to several Tagaytay restaurants serving halal food but he went to check them out himself to validate.
Where to find halal food in Tagaytay?
Internet sites and blogs listed two restaurants:
Andanita Taj of Tagaytay: a hotel and restaurant just near Residence Inn serving Indian and Middle eastern food
Mehren Snack Inn (sometimes misspelled as Mehran): a hole in the wall eatery along Tagaytay-Calamba road in front of Franciscan near the rotonda (roundabout)
Halal food is quite easy to find in Manila, particularly in Quiapo where the Golden Mosque is and in Greenhills Shopping Center where many Muslim traders do business plus the many Indian and Persian restaurants sprouting all over the metro. It's a different story in Tagaytay though. (Photo is of a bodi, a Maranao spicy carp roe (caviar) served at an turo-turo eatery in Quiapo, Manila)
Bad news: Tutubi found out the two supposedly halal restaurants were closed. Andanita Taj is moving to a new site but the published email address and contact numbers posted on their official website did not answer Tutubi's queries. Mehren Snack Inn is currently closed too, there's a new building being built on the site pointed on OpenStreetMap but no other information can be found.
As a fallback, Tutubi was just able to buy buko pie without lard sold at Picnic Grove to be not haram (forbidden) for his Muslim friends. The Original Buko Pie uses lard so it's out of the question. There's also cassava cake which uses cassava, cheese, milk, and coconut milk.
For Muslim tourists and travelers going to Tagaytay, better bring your own food as there's no such thing as halal bulalo in Tagaytay (perhaps Tutubi will open one but he needs a Muslim butcher and cook for bulalo to be certified halal).
This post will be updated once updated and confirmed information on halal restaurants in Tagaytay is found.

People's Park in the Sky is a government-owned park that is actually not well maintained. The landscaping needs to be improved even with simple cleanliness. It does offer a different view of Taal Lake and Taal Volcano. If you have your own vehicle, you can't drive inside the park, you need to ride a jeepney to take you to the view deck, it's quite a long walk, please be forewarned :P

Taal Volcano on Katy Perry "Roar" Music Video

Look! Katy Perry's latest music video of "Roar" had her, in sexy, "jungle bikini," get a glimpse of Taal Lake and Taal Volcano. The music video plot is of pop singer Katy Perry stranded in a tropical jungle after surviving a plane crash.
The music video though was not shot in Tagaytay, as the picture apparently was taken from, based on the angle of the photo world's smallest volcano located in Batangas province.
As the video explicitly says, it's "a motion theory adventure filmed in in junglescope" :)

Nice to see beautiful places featured in music videos as it promotes Philippine tourism, instead of the bad image projected by others like the "Bourne Legacy," which featured the gritty side of Manila but also showcased the beauty of the island paradise of El Nido, Palawan in the closing scene.

Tutubi's home province is Laguna and it's no secret that his favorites from his home province is the popular, and traffic-casuing bakeshop of Orient The Original Buko Pie in Los Banos, Laguna.
Tutubi wishes a branch of the bakeshop opens in Manila or along the Rizal-Manila East Road en route to Quezon City that he usually takes, unlike the longer Calamba-SLEX route.
A few months ago, he chanced upon a billboard along Tagaytay-Sta. Rosa Road about the impending opening of the first branch of the popular bakeshop that has become synonymous with Laguna: The Original Buko Pie Bakeshop
The Original Buko Pie of Laguna, is still the best buko pie in the Philippines.
Should you challenge it, let Tutubi know so he can sample the challenger and give you his unbiased answer as this endorsement does not come with freebies nor because it came from Laguna. There are many posts here where he bashed restaurants and places in Laguna. :P

Tutubi's recent daytrip to Tagaytay made him stop by on the national road near Taal Vista Hotel to take this picture of a giant ferris wheel in Tagaytay Ridge that will surely offer leisure park visitors a stunning view of Taal Lake and Taal Volcano, and probably romantic sunset views of Tagaytay.

What used to be a vacant lot beside Taal Vista Hotel that was used as a horseback riding with a view by children and kids alike is turned into a leisure park by SM Land.

Just how will they call the giant ferris wheel: Tagaytay Eye? (much like the MOA Eye :P
It will probably be open during Holy Week when Manila is shutdown on Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Black Saturday only to re-open on Easter Sunday.

Tagaytay: Pink Sisters Convent Mass Schedule

Tutubi has lots of friends devoted to weekly Sunday masses at Pink Sisters in Tagaytay where their family bonds afterwards. You can see their faith and devotion not just in attending masses regularly in the chilly Tagaytay and eaking up very early so as not to arrive late (where car parking is too hard to find besides your church seat)

Weekday Mass Schedule (Daily, Monday to Friday): 6:30am (no mass in the afternoon)

How to Get to Sonya's Garden: Map, Commute and Driving Directions

As confirmed by a friend of Tutubi who went to Sonya's Garden (Sonya's Country Bed and Breakfast) some time ago, here's information on how to get to Sonia's Garden near Tagaytay for people taking public transportation plus "driving directions to Sonya's Garden" for those lucky enough to be at the convenience of their own vehicles.

How to get to Sonya's Garden:
Firt, look for appropriate buses to Tagaytay or Nasugbu on the How to Get to Tagaytay post then follow directions below.
Commute to Sonya's Garden is easy though with three rides: a bus, a jeepney and a tricycle ride. First ride a Bus to Tagaytay or Nasugbu, Batangas and request the conductor to drop you off at Alfonso Crossing on the highway. Transfer to a jeepney to take you to Buck Estate then ride a tricycle to Sonya's Garden. You can request the tricycle driver to fetch you at an appointed time to avoid the hassle of waiting for one on your return trip. (Current fares not available due to memory gap of Tutubi's friend)
If you are already touring Tagaytay, you can ride jeepneys that pass by Buck Estate then transfer to a trike to Sonya's Country Bed and Breakfast.

exit Santa Rosa and turn right towards Tagaytay. Upon reaching main

Tagaytay Zipline & Cable Car at Picnic Grove (Entrance Fee and Rates)

During pre-Christmas family field trip to Picnic Grove in Tagaytay, it's actually the Tagaytay Zipline and Cable Car that really got the curiosity of Tutubi though he knows it's a shorter version of the dizzying flying foxes of Mindanao particularly in Davao.

The zipline cuts across a portion of Tagaytay ridge with lush vegetation below and the shimmering Taal Lake and Taal Volcano as backdrop. One souvenir photo is free to brave souls who tried to cross over. Mugs with photos of your adrenaline rush moment for sale at PhP200.
The zipline system uses a harness that can carry three persons as big as sumo wrestlers and two orange-colored tires as dampers to soften the landing on the platform

Across the same valley and along the "flying fox" is Tagaytay cable car though the better can be found at Tagaytay Highlands.
Tagaytay Zipline and Cable Car is a separate company and not under the management of Tagaytay Picnic Grove.

Nope, this zipline is not the nearest to Metro Manila for in Quezon City Memorial Circle and at La Mesa Ecopark there are now ziplines in operation. The latest seems to be the new 200 meter long and 20 ft. high Rocket Zipline in Corregidor. Subic Tree Top Adventure Park also has what they call Superman zipline and all the others are in Mindanao.

Family Fun Day at Tagaytay Picnic Grove

A very rare occasion when Tutubi's growing family went on a field trip to Tagaytay, a week before Christmas, ended up at Tagaytay Picnic Grove for a day of fun and family bonding with his parents, siblings, nephews and nieces during a cold, rainy day.
Tutubi's first and only prior visit to Tagaytay Picnic Grove was about 12 years ago and he remembers the place as if nothing much changwited except for the addition of zipline and cable car rides.
The main attraction still of Picnic Grove is simply the picnic cottages with breathtaking view of Taal Volcano, enveloped by cool, crisp air of Tagaytay City, a city perched on the ridge of an ancient caldera home to Taal Lake.

Kite rentals are present but what the heck, Tutubi can make a kite DIY style using walis tingting, paste/tape and newspapers for a simple setup and better using other materials of course
horses can be rented for an hour for about P200 and can seat two medium-built persons
Overnight accommodations at Picnic Grove are also available for those looking for a place to stay in Tagaytay beyond the usual day tour. Restaurants are waiting for park visitors who didn't bring the usual picnic meals. Souvenir shops line the pathways for mementos and pasalubongs like t-shirts, mugs and other things stamped with Tagaytay brand.

There are inadequate toilets for use (better use the ones inside the restaurants). But being a cheap place to spend time with family and friends, and bring food to share. Tourist traps and nuisance in typical "tourist spots" abound where you'll be offered horses every now and then (much like Boracay's boatmen)

One of the most recurring questions thrown at Tutubi by his friends is how to get to Tagaytay by commuting i.e. using public transportation. He entertains most queries but this time, he'll just refer his friends here for the information.
UPDATED September 2017
Before giving directions to Tagaytay, did you know the origin of Tagaytay's name? Tagaytay is actually an old Tagalog word for ridge, being a place on a ridge of an ancient caldera, similar to Taytay town in Rizal province that also sits on a ridge. Should you know anyone living in Tagaytay such a government official, please inform him/her that the Tagaytay legend of the "taga, Itay" is just not true and unfounded, something the people of Tagaytay falsely celebrate with a re-enactment during the Araw ng Tagaytay celebration on June 21.
Tagaytay's primary tourist attraction is Taal Volcano, the smallest volcano in the world, besides its cold weather that appeals to Manila denizens escaping the searing summer sun

The Ninoy Aquino Monument at Tagaytay Rotonda, the most recognizable of Tagaytay's landmarks, is surrounded by BPI, Chowking, Mang Inasal
Driving directions to Tagaytay for those with private cars, vans or taxi cabs:
Option 1: via SLEX Sta. Rosa Exit, the most popular and easiest, is a straight drive all the way to Tagaytay Public Market (and right smack into Tagaytay Econo Inn) where you turn right going to Tagaytay city proper and Nasugbu/Balayan/Lemery Batangas or left going to People's Park in the Sky. Usual travel time from Makati CBD is just around one hour (except CBD traffic).
Option 2: via SLEX Eton Exit (recommended for weekends to avoid traffic in Nuvali, Solenad and Paseo de Sta. Rosa) turn right to Greenfield Parkway (pass by Riverbend and Pramana Residential Park), on to United Boulevard (pass FortMED and South Luzon Hospital and Medical Center, Paseo Premier Hotel) right to Laguna Boulevard then left to Sta. Rosa - Tagaytay Road to reach Tagaytay
Option 3: SLEX Greenfields Exit, an alternate route to Tagaytay that pass by Pramana, Nuvali, Eton City and Paseo de Sta. Rosa, ideal to avoid traffic buildup on Sta. Rosa-Tagaytay National Road
Option 4: SLEX Southwoods exit then Governor's Drive in Carmona going to Dasmarinas. Turn left on Maguyam Road just before the Shell Station to your left.
Option 5: via Aguinaldo Highway: Roxas Boulevard, Baclaran, Coastal Road, Bacoor, Imus, Dasmarinas via Aguinaldo Highway. Not recommended due to presence of heavy traffic made worse by SM Dasmarinas and Robinsons Palapala. At the end of Aguinaldo Highway is the Tagaytay Rotonda (roundabout) where a statue of Ninoy Aquino, a BPI with ATM, Days Inn, Max's Restaurant and 7-Eleven store as landmarks.
Option 6: Another route for the adventurous to Tagaytay is via Daang Hari that passes by Molino, Bacoor, Imus, Dasmarinas and Silang. It bypasses the traffic chokepoint of Bacoor rotonda but not SM Dasma and Robinsons.
Option 7: From Sto. Tomas, Batangas via StarToll in going to Lipa City, take Sambat exit and follow the national road to Talisay then go up Ligaya Drive, the zigzag road to Tagaytay (sometimes called Bitukang Manok, not for the faint of heart and newbie drivers)
Note: If you're a foreigner, you can hire vans to get there or an airport taxi. Some taxi drivers charge a fixed rate or double the meter fare plus toll fees. Taxi rates to Tagaytay from the airport is approximately PhP3,000.00 (depends on your haggling skill)

This is a backpacking blog so backpacking Tagaytay should really mean taking public transportation :P
If you're going to Tagaytay via public transportation, request the driver to drop you off at your destination if along the way or at Tagaytay Rotonda (landmarks: Ninoy Aquino monument, BPI, Max's, 7-Eleven) where you can ride jeepneys or tricycle to your target place.

from Navotas bus terminal via Malabon, Caloocan City, Quezon City via EDSA, Jasper Jean bus plies the Navotas to Pala-pala, Dasmarinas, Cavite route and pass by EDSA. (Those buses usually park to the detriment of other drivers) in front of Highway 54, Meralco Sub-station). In Dasmarinas, transfer to jeepneys going to Mendez, Cavite that pass by Tagaytay.
From Cubao, Quezon City (can be via MRT Cubao Araneta Center Station or LRT 2 Cubao Station): ride buses going to Nasugbu, Lemery or Calatagan at Araneta Center Terminal in front of Ali Mall e.g. San Agustin bus to Tagaytay. Calamba to Tagaytay: ride shuttle service at the public market beside Waltermart Calamba or at the Calamba Central Terminal. Cheaper alternative, ride a jeepney going to Balibago complex in Sta. Rosa then transfer to Tagaytay-bound jeepneys.

One of the most recurring questions thrown at Tutubi by his friends is how to get to Tagaytay by commuting i.e. using public transportation. He entertains most queries but this time, he'll just refer his friends here for the information.

Before giving directions to Tagaytay, did you know the origin of Tagaytay's name? Tagaytay is actually an old Tagalog word for ridge, being a place on a ridge of an ancient caldera, similar to Taytay town in Rizal province that also sits on a ridge. Should you know anyone living in Tagaytay such a government official, please inform him/her that the Tagaytay legend of the "taga, Itay" is just not true and unfounded, something the people of Tagaytay falsely celebrate with a re-enactment during the Araw ng Tagaytay celebration on June 21.

Driving directions to Tagaytay for those with private cars, vans or taxi cabs:
Option 1: via SLEX Sta. Rosa Exit, the most popular and easiest, is a straight drive all the way to Tagaytay Public Market (and right smack into Tagaytay Econo Inn) where you turn right going to Tagaytay city proper and Nasugbu/Balayan/Lemery Batangas or left going to People's Park in the Sky. Usual travel time from Makati CBD is just around one hour (except CBD traffic).
Option 2: via SLEX Eton Exit (recommended for weekends to avoid traffic in Nuvali, Solenad and Paseo de Sta. Rosa) turn right to Greenfield Parkway (pass by Riverbend and Pramana Residential Park), on to United Boulevard (pass FortMED and South Luzon Hospital and Medical Center, Paseo Premier Hotel) right to Laguna Boulevard then left to Sta. Rosa - Tagaytay Road to reach Tagaytay
Option 3: SLEX Greenfields Exit, an alternate route to Tagaytay that pass by Pramana, Nuvali, Eton City and Paseo de Sta. Rosa, ideal to avoid traffic buildup on Sta. Rosa-Tagaytay National Road
Option 4: SLEX Southwoods exit then Governor's Drive in Carmona going to Dasmarinas. Turn left on Maguyam Road just before the Shell Station to your left.
Option 5: via Aguinaldo Highway: Roxas Boulevard, Baclaran, Coastal Road, Bacoor, Imus, Dasmarinas via Aguinaldo Highway. Not recommended due to presence of heavy traffic made worse by SM Dasmarinas and Robinsons Palapala. At the end of Aguinaldo Highway is the Tagaytay Rotonda (roundabout) where a statue of Ninoy Aquino, a BPI with ATM, Days Inn, Max's Restaurant and 7-Eleven store as landmarks.
Option 6: Another route for the adventurous to Tagaytay is via Daang Hari that passes by Molino, Bacoor, Imus, Dasmarinas and Silang. It bypasses the traffic chokepoint of Bacoor rotonda but not SM Dasma and Robinsons.
Option 7: From Sto. Tomas, Batangas via StarToll in going to Lipa City, take Sambat exit and follow the national road to Talisay then go up Ligaya Drive, the zigzag road to Tagaytay (sometimes called Bitukang Manok, not for the faint of heart and newbie drivers)
Note: If you're a foreigner, you can hire vans to get there or an airport taxi. Some taxi drivers charge a fixed rate or double the meter fare plus toll fees. Taxi rates to Tagaytay from the airport is approximately PhP3,000.00 (depends on your haggling skill)
How to Commute to Tagaytay: Buses, Fx, Vans, Jeepneys

If you're going to Tagaytay via public transportation, request the driver to drop you off at your destination if along the way or at Tagaytay Rotonda (landmarks: Ninoy Aquino monument, BPI, Max's, 7-Eleven) where you can ride jeepneys or tricycle to your target place.

Tricycles can also be hired in Tagaytay (taxis are not available) but usually charge fares much more than taking public utility jeepneys (PUJ) so be forewarned.
From Tagaytay Going Back to Manila:
You may need to ride a jeepney to Tagaytay Rotonda and Olivarez Plaza where you wait for buses to take you back to Manila. Bus fare is about PhP80.00 (as of June 2015)
No updated information yet on the time of departure for first trips (6am is a safe one to assume) and last departure times, telephone numbers, bus schedules and current fares (due to fluctuating fares and gasoline prices)

Baguio City's Famous Pasalubong, Good Shepherd Ube Halaya/Dimples, Now Available in Tagaytay

A visit to Baguio City, north of Manila, won't be complete without a brief stop at Good Shepherd Sister's place to buy ube jam (purple yam), peanut brittle, strawberry jam and other goodies as pasalubong to loved ones back home.
Some time ago, the sisters opened a "sister" store in the mountain city of Tagaytay, closer to Manila, and made available the famous pasalubong of the former hill station of the Americans to Metro Manilans who frequent the city overlooking Taal Volcano.
After the golf tournament at Splendido Taal Golf Course, Tutubi and friends passed by Good Shepherd Sisters in Maryridge, Tagaytay City to buy ube jam (ube halaya), ube dimples, and tawilis in olive oil. (Tawilis is a freshwater sardine, endemic to the Philippines, found only in Taal lake)

After the sidetrip, the tired "slaves" had dinner of crispy tawilis, grilled maliputo, bulalo etc at Kaye Ryan Grill restaurant near the new Tagaytay Econo Inn.

Tee Off at Splendido Taal Golf Course, Tagaytay

A rare chance to be part of a corporate golf tournament, privilege to travel for free and opportunity to take picture of the spanking Splendido Taal Residential, Golf, and Country Club in Alfonso, Cavite in the vicinity of Tagaytay City found itself in Tutubi even for a short notice of the engagement of just two days.
Packing his bag and getting ready with his camera, Tutubi traveled on a Friday evening to Tagaytay City, checking in at the swanky Taal Vista Hotel for a couple of hours sleep before waking up early, much too early actually for a weary corporate slave, for the golf tournament that usually begins at daybreak when the heat of the sun is still bearable.
With the tee off starting after a hearty breakfast, Tutubi took pictures of the vast estate and playground of the rich and famous that is Splendido Taal Golf Course.
Splendido Taal Golf Course, an 18-hole Par 72 signature championship golf course by Greg Norman, comes with a golf clubhouse, country clubhouse and residential community for those who got money to burn. Future Developments in the pipeline include a town center, hotel and resort, townhouses, condotels.

How to get to Splendido Taal, Alfonso, Cavite:
The entrance to Splendido Taal is about 13 kilometers from the Tagaytay city rotunda (roundabout) and near the Tagaytay City-Alfonso boundary (remember Sonya's Garden?). If you want to take a peek, suggest you inform the guard that you're making an inquiry about the place for possible wedding or other events venue.
