HM Transport and Green Star: Bus to Laguna Calamba, Los Banos, Sta. Cruz, Pagsanjan

Years ago, when people wanted to commute to Sta. Cruz, Laguna by bus, one of the popular bus companies was Kapalaran Bus Line (KBL) but the bus company folded up due to labor disputes. The other two companies then were BLTB and the newer Laguna Trans owned by the same owners of JAM Transit.

    Updated: March 2014

At present, BLTB no longer services the route while Laguna Trans split to two bus lines: HM Transport servicing Cubao to Sta. Cruz route and Green Star plying the LRT/Taft to Sta. Cruz route. The two bus lines share the same bus terminal in Pagsanjan right after barangay Pagsawitan, Sta. Cruz (the fork on the highway where most passengers alight to transfer to jeepneys going to other Laguna towns). DLTB Bus Co. now also serves these two routes.

Due to lack of official website, Tutubi's posting these information on the bus companies of his home province:

    HM Transport

Route: Cubao to Sta. Cruz: EDSA, SLEX, Calamba (Mayapa, Paciano, Parian, Crossing, Halang, Bucal, Pansol, Bagong Kalsada), Los Banos (Lalakay, College (UPLB)), Bay (poblacion), Victoria (highway), Pila (poblacion), Sta. Cruz., JAM Terminal in Pagsawitan, Pagsanjan. Travel time is 3 hours (2 hours for early morning trips)

    hm transport bus

Cubao Bus Terminal is at the corner of Monte de Piedad street and EDSA (southbound), Cubao, Quezon City near Victory Liner and the concrete pedestrian overpass. The terminal has a JAM sign with peach colored wall and Mang Inasal and Dunkin Donuts. It's walking distance from MRT Cubao-Araneta Center Station and LRT 2 Cubao Station.

    HM Transport Contact Number
    Sta. Cruz Terminal: +63.49.821.0349
    Cubao Terminal: +63.416.6192
Binan Terminal: to be updated once available

Trip Schedules (according to bus conductor): first trip Cubao - Sta. Cruz is at 3:30am, last trip at 9:30pm spaced about 20 minutes apart. first trip from Sta. Cruz to Cubao is at 2am and last trip at 7:30pm

to report arrogant and abusive bus driver and conductor:
    +63.2.520.8224; +63.49.839.4837 mobile: +63.923.725.6293; +63.932.602.0375
    email address: hmtransport_safety@yahoo.com

    Green Star Express

Route: LRT Taft to Sta. Cruz: Taft, Buendia, SLEX, Calamba (Mayapa, Paciano, Parian, Crossing, Halang, Bucal, Pansol, Bagong Kalsada), Los Banos (Lalakay, Olivarez Plaza, College (UPLB)), Bay (poblacion), Victoria (Highway), Pila (poblacion), Sta. Cruz. Terminal

Bus terminal is shared with South Star and Grand Star (buses going to Lucena and Tagkawayan, Quezon), on north-bound Taft Avenue near corner Sen. Gil Puyat Avenue, Pasay City. It's walking distance from LRT Buendia Station, is beside Arellano University, also near bus terminal of JAM Transit and Tritran (buses going to Batangas).

    Green Star Express Contact Number
    Sta. Cruz Terminal: +63.49.808.3172; +63.49.808.3701
Pasay Terminal: (to be updated once available)

Trip Schedules: first trip LRT/Taft - Sta. Cruz is at 3:20am, last trip at 9:30pm spaced about 20 minutes apart. First trip from Sta. Cruz to LRT/Taft is at 2am and last trip at 7:30pm

Bus fares (all air-conditioned units, no ordinary), as of April 2011:

Calamba: around PhP80.00 (depends on where you're going: Crossing, Halang, Pansol, Bucal), travel time around 1 to 1.5 hours
Los Banos (UPLB, Olivarez Plaza): around PhP100.00
    Bay (poblacion)
    Pila (Poblacion, Linga)
    Cubao to Sta. Cruz: PhP148.50
    LRT to Sta. Cruz: PhP140.50

    Notes:

HM Transport and Green Star use Alabang viaduct and do not drop off/pick up passengers in Alabang. Try H.M. Liner servicing Calamba-Lawton route and it's competitor Calamba Megatrans but using ordinary buses. These buses will not take you directly to Pansol Resorts, if you're going there, you have to transfer to jeepneys going to Sta. Cruz.

There's also HM Transport serving The Fort bus routes in Bonifacio Global City.

The air-conditioned buses have reclining seats with four columns and may be standing room only if you ride in Calamba going to Manila.

Bus drivers take their time and don't speed up but their 3 hours travel time is consistent.

On summer months, expect heavy traffic between Calamba and Los Banos, particularly in Pansol where the hot spring resorts are located.

On reaching Sta. Cruz you can transfer to jeepneys going to Siniloan (will pass by Pagsanjan, Lumban, Kalayaan, Paete, Pakil, Pangil then Siniloan (where jeeps to Tanay, Rizal are present, also tricycles to Famy and Mabitac)), Pagsanjan, Lumban, Paete, Liliw, Magdalena, Majayjay, Lumot (Cavinti, Lake Caliraya and Lumot Lake), Luisiana, Nagcarlan, Rizal, San Pablo and the Quezon towns of Lucban, Tayabas and Lucena City.

    Updated: March 2014

as of now, there's still no free wi-fi Internet and big TV on-board so unlike DLTB :(

THERE'S NO BUS STOP ON CALAUAN GOING TO CUBAO?

At Jun 28, 2009, 1:49:00 PM, Blogger GingGoy said...

anonymous, the buses don't pass by Calauan town proper, only on the national highway (manila east road) unlike Pila and Bay towns. I also think those buses don't take passengers from Sta Cruz if you're just going to Calauan but you can flag them down on the highway of calauan particularly near the road going to Bay poblacion.

some buses both hm and greenstar do not drop off their passengers to bay poblacion and pila poblacion if passengers are from calamba and sta cruz only. some drivers and conductors are arrogant especially green star.

some drivers of greenstar and hm transport are not accomodating because they do not like to drop off their passengers to pila and bay poblacion if they are from los banos and calamba only. These passengers I for one, are also paying the right amount.Right?

Lee Anne, there's no direct bus to Splash Island. You need to take a bus to Pacita Complex in San Pedro then look for tricycles with route Rosario- San Juan and request the tricycle driver to take you to the resort. It's also advised to pre-arrange pick-up in going home with the trike driver.

anonymous, it's probably because all of their buses are airconditioned i.e. luxury and not like HM Liner's ordinary buses who are required by law to offer discounts to students

most seats are short, they say its for three people, but actually good for only two and a half (comfortable seating) and seats for two are actually good for only one and a half, two and/or three- yes, if you are really malnourishedly thin,

I wonder why the management... the rich management won't fix this... all passengers are paying the right fare... but not all get to sit comfortably.

kyuney, all i know is that the canlubang jeepneys are at calamba crossing. ask the conductor if they can drop you off at mayapa since I used to see them drop off passengers there but it's been ages since I last took the bus home :(

kiragitara, no bus terminal there, just the one on EDSA near victory liner (if you bothered to read my post). Yes, robinsons galleria is an EDSA provincial bus stop

arman, from pagsanjan, you can ride the pagsanjan to calamba jeepneys near GSIS pagsanjan and pagsanjan public market. in calamba crossing, go to the calamba central transport terminal then ride the calamba to lipa jeepneys that pass by sto. tomas and tanauan. from there you should know how to get to batangas

I,m a regular passenger of HM/Lei transport going to and from Manila-Los Banos.

These past few days, it was really hard to commute because of your implementation that all buses going to Manila will have to pass in Total gasoline station the fact that it passed thru Mayapa for initial checking. It's really disturbing on us regular commuters. The same procedure in going home, it will have to pass in Caltex for another checking.

I'm one of regular passenger of Hm going to Alabang, it will take an hour and a half for me to get into alabang, but now that you're implementing another procedure, that all buses going to alabang will pass thru Total for checking, the same with going home, to Laguna, that it has to pass thru Caltex for another checking. It really prolongs the time of commuting from Laguna to Alabang and vice versa. It disturb me a lot.
To the management of HM, will you please consider this and kindly make an action on this matter. There are so many commuters who are affected.
    Tnx.

I would just like to share my experience on riding the Green Star Liner, with plate number DXX 590, bus number 201101. I was picked up by the bus on Pansol and it was nearly full, there was a folded seat next to the driver when i was to reach for it, the driver told me " that is reserved for our regular riders." i was just wondering, I am paying the same amount of fare as the regular but I was deprived of the seat and was forced to stand until Buendia. What pisses me most is when I asked the name of the driver, he rudely dismissed me so I went to the Bus Inspector ( Orlando T. Reyes ) but he too rudely dismissed me telling me in a very rude tone to just file a complaint to the office,I eventually got the name of the driver by looking at the ID on the dashboard ( Vicente Mamiit )but the driver again harshly threatened to Punch my face and kick me, literally kick me. shocking and harrowing experience on the rudeness/arrogance on one of your HM bus inspector plying the fairview-via taft-malvar(baclaran)route on oct. 02, 2012 at approx.0730-0800 hours (lerma enroute to quiapo), as well as discourteous while inspecting/collecting tickets, while on or about to dial an urgent/emergency calls...that he wanted his way, so in a hurry to inspect my ticket and after i finished off with my calls, i told him that he be polite and patient in performing his duty as an inspector as there still so many passengers at the back part of the bus and leave me for the time being...he shouted harsh words like, that he is just performing his job and must understand him, that i was not making a call, and that he can not be asked as an inspector to call his conductor and hand over my change for the 100 pesos i gave, and that after inspecting my ticket he threw my ticket and did not handed it over to me and i even asked inspector 'AGUSTIN'-( as per my conversation with bus conductor raul fortes/bus A-95 which raul couldn't recall aguston's first name), attached herewith are your HM bus tickets to prove my claims to such arrogance/attitude of mr. agustin...unless bus conductor raul fortes reverses the actual incident against me...

Hi! We're going to Cavinti. We're instructed to take a bus going to Sta Cruz - Pagsanjan then jeepney to Cavinti. I just have some questions.
    1. How far is Sta Cruz to Pagsanjan and how do we get to Pagsanjan from Sta Cruz and vice versa other than by bus?
    2. Which between Sta Cruz and Pagsanjan has more grocery destinations? we're planning to buy some stuff and cooking ingredients for a two-day stay in Sunday Island.
    3. Has the fare changed?
    4. Do you happen to know Sundang Island itself? We're advised to get off the jeepney to Cavinti from Pagsanjan at the Barangay Lumot-Mahipon covered basketball court/Barangay hall, then walk to the NAPOCOR Watershed Management Field Office. Inside is where we'll be meeting a person who will bring us to Sundang Island by boat.
    5. Where is it more advisable to get a jeepney to Cavinti, Sta Cruz or Pagsanjan?
    6. Where is it easier to get a bus back to Gil Puyat, Pagsanjan or Sta Cruz?
    7. Do all Green Star buses pass by both Sta Cruz and Pagsanjan?
    8. We'll be going there on a Sunday (Dec22) and back the next day. Will there be any change in sched or fare if traveling on a Sunday or holiday(if it is)?

Sorry for asking a lot of questions.. You seem to know a lot about the places there and it will be extremely helpful for us to be asking info abt the place from knowledgeable others aside from the owners/management/caretakers of Sundang Island themselves.

Thank you so much! - Howan

    Hi Howan,

i am from Paete that's why im familiar with the area

"1. How far is Sta Cruz to Pagsanjan and how do we get to Pagsanjan from Sta Cruz and vice versa other than by bus?"
you only get to Pagsanjan from sta cruz by jeepney

"2. Which between Sta Cruz and Pagsanjan has more grocery destinations? we're planning to buy some stuff and cooking ingredients for a two-day stay in Sunday Island."
both. Sta Cruz has a mall though but there's a grocery/supermarket too at Pagsanjan public market (Goodwill)

"3. Has the fare changed?" No

    4. Do you happen to know Sundang Island itself? We're advised to get off the jeepney to Cavinti from Pagsanjan at the Barangay Lumot-Mahipon covered basketball court/Barangay hall, then walk to the NAPOCOR Watershed Management Field Office. Inside is where we'll be meeting a person who will bring us to Sundang Island by boat."

I've been to an island there but it's called New Year. If you're going to Lumot, there's also a jeepney with signboard Lumot from Sta Cruz, but your contact may be right, confirm it first

"5. Where is it more advisable to get a jeepney to Cavinti, Sta Cruz or Pagsanjan?"
it's just in Sta Cruz. Pagsanjan is in between the two towns

"6. Where is it easier to get a bus back to Gil Puyat, Pagsanjan or Sta Cruz?"
both. there are two bus companies located ner the boundary of Sta Cruz and Pagsanjan. DLTB is in Sta Cruz, Green Star is in Pagsanjan. You won't have a problem with either of them

"7. Do all Green Star buses pass by both Sta Cruz and Pagsanjan?"
no. Pagsanjan terminal is only near the boundary. you still need to ride a jeep to pagsanjan town proper or to cavinti

"8. We'll be going there on a Sunday (Dec22) and back the next day. Will there be any change in sched or fare if traveling on a Sunday or holiday(if it is)?" No. first and last trips are always the same

Sorry for asking a lot of questions.. You seem to know a lot about the places there and it will be extremely helpful for us to be asking info abt the place from knowledgeable others aside from the owners/management/caretakers of Sundang Island themselves.
